Transitioning Schools
into the 21st Century: Phase 1
Audience
Any administrator and other appropriate school personnel
Description
Presenter Dr. Scott McLeod will discuss how effective leadership is required if schools are to realize the transformative potential of digital technologies. He says that "As a nation, we shouldn't continue to let students acquire the majority of the technology skills, knowledge, habits, and beliefs on their own. There is an important and vital role in this, and effective leaders are the key. Meaningful and sustainable school change never happens without strong leadership."
Dr. McLeod will address the societal and technological changes that are revolutionizing the world around us and will discuss how school administrators can best facilitate an effective transition from the current 19th century paradigm to what is needed for success in the 21st Century. He also will bring economic and labor data that show the dramatic impacts that digital technologies and globalization are having on the skill needs of American employers. Participants will receive a wealth of technology leadership resources that they can use to facilitate change in their school organizations.
Participants need to bring a laptop for use during the sessions. These workshops will be hands-on and discussion-oriented.
